Authorities found the "head and genitals" of a 35-year-old man after he was brutally murdered alone in his own hut.
On 18 July 2026, a body was found identified later as Mr. Somsak Thamwapi, or Tong, aged 35. Later, investigators from Mueang Udon Thani Police Station, Region 4 police, and local officers conducted a thorough search of the crime scene. At 13:30, police found the head and genitals of Mr. Somsak inside a white container in the hut of Mr. Nirut, aged 39, who is a suspect.
Police took the suspect into custody for questioning at Ban Dung Police Station last night after collecting evidence including bloodstains and knife sheaths from the crime scene and nearby areas.
The container in which the suspect placed the head was mixed with fermentation liquid, producing a strong foul odor. Locals who came to see the scene could not endure the smell, as the container was used for fermenting liquids and contained the head of Mr. Tong, causing the intense stench.
