The Central Investigation Bureau arrested a suspect under a warrant in a drug trafficking case at his residence, linked to a methamphetamine network in the southern border region involving 220,000 pills.
On 19 July 2026, the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB), through the Marine Police Division under the command of Pol. Lt. Gen. Natsak Chaowanasai, Commissioner of the CIB; Pol. Maj. Gen. Sophon Saraphat, Deputy Commissioner; Pol. Maj. Gen. Setthasiri Nipapaya, Commander of the Marine Police; along with other senior officers, coordinated the operation.
The arrest team, led by Lt. Cmdr. Wiroj Lilpan, and Lt. Cmdr. Aree Madden, Deputy Chief of Marine Police Unit 2, along with officers Pratya Mukdahan, Korakot Nawakham, and Sgt. Clangphet Hombut, apprehended Saifuddin, 35, who is wanted under Yala Provincial Court warrant No. 283/2569 dated 14 July 2026. He is charged with jointly trafficking Category 1 narcotics (methamphetamine), possessing for sale with intent to distribute commercially, causing public spread, impacting state security and public safety without authorization; supporting, assisting, or conspiring with two or more persons to commit serious drug offenses as agreed.
The suspect was arrested at a house in Village 1, Manang Dala Subdistrict, Saiburi District, Pattani Province. This case stems from a major drug trafficking operation in the southern border provinces connected to a seizure of over 220,000 methamphetamine pills by security agencies in 2025. Investigators compiled technological evidence and financial records establishing a clear link to the suspect as a key player, resulting in the issuance of the arrest warrant on 14 July 2026.
Recently, Pattani Marine Police analyzed technical data alongside intelligence reports, tracking the suspect’s escape route. They found he had driven a pickup truck from Narathiwat Province heading back to his residence in Saiburi District, Pattani Province. The arrest team quickly raided the target house and apprehended the suspect resting on the second floor. He confessed to being the person named in the warrant and confirmed he had not been previously arrested in this case.
Officers informed the suspect of his legal rights, then took him into custody and transferred him to Krong Pinang Police Station, Yala Province, to proceed with legal actions. The suspect initially confessed during questioning.
