Judicial Commission Appoints Phaopan Chobnamtan as New Secretary-General of the Office of the Judiciary

The Judicial Commission meeting approved the appointment of Phaopan Chobnamtan as the new Secretary-General of the Office of the Judiciary, effective 1 October this year.

On 21 July, reporters reported that at 09:30 on 20 July, at the Ratchaburidirekrit Conference Room in the Justice Building on Ratchadamnoen Road, Mr. Adisak Tantivong, President of the Supreme Court, chaired the 19/2026 meeting of the Judicial Commission. The commission considered and approved the transfer and appointment list of judicial officials, effective 1 October 2026. The commission decided to appoint Mr. Phaopan Chobnamtan, Deputy Secretary-General of the Office of the Judiciary, to serve as Secretary-General, replacing Mr. Theerathai Charoenwong, who transferred back to judicial service, with the appointment effective from 1 October 2026 onward.
  
Mr. Phaopan graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (Second-Class Honors) and a Master of Laws from Thammasat University. He is also a Thai Barrister trained by the Institute of Legal Education of the Thai Bar Association. He has held important positions including Deputy Secretary to the Court of Appeal, Chief Judge of Buriram Provincial Court, Chief Judge of Kanchanaburi Provincial Court, Presiding Judge in the Criminal Court, Deputy Secretary-General to the President of the Supreme Court, and Deputy Secretary-General of the Office of the Judiciary.
