A heavily intoxicated Myanmar man drove a pickup truck into motorcycles, then crashed into a shop front, resulting in two deaths and three injuries. His blood alcohol concentration measured 239 mg%.
At 19:30 on 25 July 2026, Police Lieutenant Colonel Niwat Timket, an investigator at Thalang Police Station in Phuket, received a report of a vehicle colliding with multiple motorcycles on the road to Ton Sai Waterfall, Village No. 1, Thepkrasattri Subdistrict, Thalang District, Phuket. He informed Police Colonel Nikorn Chuthong, Chief of Thalang Police Station, before proceeding to the scene with relevant officials.
At the scene, a black Suzuki pickup truck registered in Phuket was found, driven by Mr. Aung Min Oo, 42, a Myanmar national. Four motorcycles were also found damaged.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Mr. Thanawit was riding his motorcycle from Thalang toward Ton Sai Waterfall when the pickup driven by Mr. Aung Min Oo, coming from the waterfall direction, collided with him, causing injury. The pickup driver then attempted to flee about 100 meters toward Thalang but lost control and crashed into three more motorcycles parked in front of a shop, causing further damage and injuries.
Authorities found Mr. Aung Min Oo intoxicated and measured his blood alcohol concentration at 239 mg%. He was detained and initially charged, with evidence being collected to proceed according to the law.
At 21:40, Thalang Hospital reported that Mr. Thanawit, 24, and Mrs. Mariam, 45, died from their injuries, bringing the death toll to two, with three others injured.
Thalang Police investigators are continuing to collect evidence and will proceed with legal action against the pickup driver following proper legal procedures.
