The Commander of Provincial Police Region 2 revealed the discovery of two Russian siblings buried in a one-meter-deep grave, while three other bodies—a mother, father, and child—were found buried separately across the street. The suspect claimed to be a police officer and intended to rob the victims.
On 31 Jul 2017 GMT+7, reports stated that authorities arrested Mr. Thana, nicknamed “Pong,” and Mr. Thongchai, nicknamed “Thong,” suspects wanted by Pattaya Provincial Court on charges of nighttime vehicle theft and receiving stolen goods in Wang Sombun District, Sa Kaeo Province. Pong and Thong confessed to killing two Russian siblings whom they did not know, intending to steal a motorcycle. When the victims resisted, they killed them and buried the bodies.
After the arrest, authorities brought the suspects back for detailed questioning at Huay Yai Police Station in Chonburi Province. At 21:35, police escorted Pong and Thong to the spot where they claimed to have buried the bodies in Chak Ngaeo forest, Village 10, Huay Yai Subdistrict, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi Province. Locals shouted curses asking, “Why did you do this to them?”
By 22:44, Pol. Lt. Gen. Chatchai Surachatepong, Commander of Provincial Police Region 2, confirmed finding the bodies of a woman and a boy in the same grave about one meter deep.
The woman’s body showed signs of assault, but initially, there were no indications of sexual assault. The man had two gunshot wounds—one in the abdomen and one in the head. This matched the suspects’ statements, who claimed they intended to steal a motorcycle and encountered the victims by chance. Regarding the disassembled motorcycle parts buried in the soil, the suspects said they destroyed the evidence after news reports surfaced.
Regarding the three missing family members—a father, mother, and child—the suspects confessed to the crime, motivated by robbery. They impersonated police officers, handcuffed the husband and wife upon meeting them, and when their daughter returned home, they took her as well. The victims were bound, shot, and buried in the same grave. This burial site is located across the street from where the two Russian siblings were buried. Further investigation will continue.
