
The incident took place in Phuket where a daughter-in-law, in a fit of rage, argued with her 74-year-old mother-in-law before stabbing her to death and decapitating her inside the home. Neighbors who witnessed the event promptly notified the police, who arrested the suspect for prosecution.
At 09:15 on 1 August 2026, Police Lieutenant Colonel Jaruwit Khuncharoen, the investigating officer at Chalong Police Station in Phuket, received a report of a murder at a house in Chalong Subdistrict, Mueang District, Phuket Province. He informed Police Colonel Surasak Jaidee, the station chief, before officers and relevant agencies proceeded to the scene for investigation.
At the scene, the body of Ms. Chantra, aged 74, was found deceased inside the house with severe wounds from a sharp object and extensive bloodstains on the floor.
Preliminary investigation revealed that prior to the incident, the victim, who was the mother-in-law of Ms. Sriwan, aged 36, was inside the house with her daughter-in-law. The two engaged in a heated argument, after which the suspect became enraged, physically assaulted the victim causing her to fall, then used a knife to slash her body and face, finally decapitating her. Neighbors witnessed the incident and quickly alerted the police. Upon arrival, officers found the suspect hiding inside the bathroom and promptly took her into custody before proceeding with legal action.
Initially, investigators, together with forensic officers and the medical examiner, conducted an on-site examination and autopsy. They are expediting inquiries into the cause and motive behind the crime to proceed with prosecution according to legal procedures.
