Updates on the case of two Russian siblings buried alive in Huay Yai Subdistrict, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi: Mr. Thana, or "Pong," 43, and Mr. Thongchai, or "Thong," 39, confessed. Thong further admitted a prior similar crime involving the killing of a family of three—father, mother, and child—citing robbery as motive. Officials led them to the burial site, near where the Russian siblings were found, and discovered all three bodies. These victims had been reported missing. Two other youths, Mr. Atsadang, or "Ball," and Mr. Chatchanan, or "Fluke," were implicated in the triple homicide. Authorities have arrested and charged them, as previously reported.
At 18:00, reporters received information from the Department of Corrections at Pattaya Special Prison regarding three suspects in the five-person burial murder case, who were admitted to prison on the evening of 1 August: Mr. Pong, Mr. Thong, and Mr. Ball. Mr. Fluke has not been admitted yet, as police have summoned him for further questioning.
After the three suspects were admitted, they were initially placed in solitary cells in the reception ward. Thong and Ball exhibit stress, whereas Pong remains indifferent. All three will be held in reception for seven days for observation and quarantine before being transferred to internal detention areas. The Department of Corrections will determine appropriate housing to prevent them from being attacked by other inmates.
The girlfriend of Mr. Atsadang, or Ball, one of the suspects, stated that her boyfriend did not intend to participate in the crime but was deceived by Mr. Pong into collecting a debt, only to discover it involved murder. She claims he has been traumatized since the incident, suffering from insomnia and fearing for his family's safety.
Ball's girlfriend said Ball has known Pong for over seven to eight years through past involvement with drugs. After Pong served prison time, he contacted Ball to demand repayment of about 20,000 baht, threatening him through intermediaries. Ball became fearful because Pong knows where his family lives.
On the day of the incident, Ball was contacted by Pong, who said he wanted to collect debts or recover a loan. Ball agreed to accompany him, unaware that a murder would occur. After returning home, Ball cried, clung to her in fear, suffered insomnia, sleepwalked, and showed trauma-like symptoms. He refused to share all details, fearing that if his family knew too much, they might become targets.
She also said Ball told her that upon arrival at the scene, they found a pre-dug hole, which immediately struck him as suspicious because it was not a usual debt collection. She insisted that Ball never said he shot the victims or revealed who fired the weapon.
Additionally, she claimed that after the incident, Pong frequently monitored Ball's movements to see if he would report to the police. Pong also threatened others involved and warned he would harm her family if any information about the case was revealed.
Ball's girlfriend revealed that after Ball surrendered, he called her only once, instructing her to secure the house and ensure safety. He apologized to her family but did not disclose details about the shooter. She is concerned for Ball's safety while in custody and urges authorities to separate him from other inmates to prevent harm.
