Pickup Truck Drives Against Traffic, Makes U-Turn into Oncoming Lane, Collides with Rider Motorcycle, Rider Dies at Scene

The wife is deeply saddened. Pickup truck driving against traffic. Then made a U-turn into the opposite lane, colliding with a rider's motorcycle driving straight, resulting in death at the scene.


At 23:38 on 2 August 2026, a report came in of a pickup truck colliding with a motorcycle causing a fatality on Sriwaree Noi Road, Bang Chalong Subdistrict, Bang Phli District, Samut Prakan Province. Police and Poh Teck Tung Foundation rescue teams promptly arrived to investigate.

At the scene, Mr. Nattawut Suetrong, 30, the rider on a white motorcycle registered in Bangkok, was found unconscious and bleeding heavily. CPR was administered and a rescue team from Bang Phli Hospital was called for support. Despite over 20 minutes of resuscitation efforts, the victim was confirmed dead at the scene.

A black pickup truck with Udon Thani plates was found parked in the right lane against traffic, front end damaged. The driver, Mr. Woraphot, 48, from Samut Prakan, was standing by giving a statement. Witnesses and CCTV footage corroborated that the pickup truck had been driving against traffic from some distance, then made a U-turn at the location. The motorcycle, coming straight, could not brake in time, slipped, lost control, and crashed forcefully into the front of the truck.

The victim's wife and family arrived at the scene upon hearing the news, crying in grief. They said the deceased worked as a rider delivering passengers via an app and was likely out to pick up a passenger but never made it due to the careless driving of the pickup truck driver involved.

Mr. Woraphot, the pickup truck driver, admitted to driving against traffic intentionally to buy noodles at a shop that was closed, then attempted a U-turn but failed to notice oncoming traffic, causing the accident. He also acknowledged having drunk one bottle of beer before driving.

CCTV footage from near Tipkasorn Market on Sriwaree Noi Road showed from the opposite side a black pickup truck driving against traffic towards the opposite market side. The driver carelessly made a U-turn crossing into the opposite lane against oncoming traffic. At that moment, a motorcycle was approaching at speed; upon seeing the truck, the rider tried to brake but slipped, skidded, and crashed heavily into the truck’s front. A noodle vendor witnessing the event screamed in shock.

Police took the pickup truck driver into custody for questioning and legal proceedings on initial charges of reckless driving causing death. Blood was drawn to test for alcohol levels; results will determine if further charges are warranted. The victim’s body was handed to rescue personnel for transfer to Ramathibodi Chakri Naruebodindra Institute for autopsy and legal procedures.
