Police Chief Orders Investigation into Officer Allegedly Acting as Drug Distributor Pongs Associate Disciplinary and Criminal Actions to Follow if Proven

The National Police Chief ordered a mobile phone check and fact-finding investigation regarding a police officer from Huay Yai Police Station alleged to be an associate of “Pong,” acting as a drug distributor. If proven, disciplinary and criminal actions will be taken.

At 2:00 p.m. on 3 Aug 2026 GMT+7, Pol. Lt. Gen. Trairong Phiwpan, spokesperson for the Royal Thai Police, addressed claims made by a victim in the 'Hone Krasae' program about Mr. Thana Kerdthong, known as Pong, who reportedly took them to receive drugs from an associate who is a police officer at Huay Yai Police Station. Pol. Gen. Kittirat Phanphet, the National Police Chief, has ordered urgent fact-finding to verify the allegations. If found true, decisive legal measures will be applied, both disciplinary and criminal, and the Chonburi Provincial Police Commander must report the findings promptly.

Initially, the spokesperson ordered superiors to urgently seize and examine the mobile phone of the accused officer to find evidence. Should clear evidence emerge, prosecution will proceed within the legal framework. If other officers are implicated, strict action will also be taken against them.

Pol. Lt. Gen. Trairong added that the Royal Thai Police will not protect any officers involved. Updates on the evidence and investigation progress will be reported to the National Police Chief and the public accordingly.
