Narcotics suppression police intercepted 320 kilograms of ice valued at over 50 million baht hidden in a covered pickup truck after detecting transport from the Northeast, intended for distribution in Bangkok. The driver escaped after realizing the situation and abandoned the vehicle.
On 4 August 2026 in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province, reporters learned that shortly after midnight on 2 August 2026, Narcotics Suppression Bureau officers, acting on a tip-off about a large drug shipment from the Northeast destined for inner areas such as Bangkok, were closely monitoring the suspected trafficking operation.
They spotted a suspicious white Isuzu covered pickup truck, license plate Tho Mo 4533 Bangkok, entering Wang Noi District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya. Officers followed closely until the driver sensed the police presence and fled into a dark alley beside the Wang Noi power plant in Village 4, Wang Chula Subdistrict, Wang Noi District.
Officers pursued and found the driver, a man wearing a white shirt, three-quarter pants, and sandals, who fled on foot into thick forest when cornered. Despite a search, police were unable to locate him.
A vehicle search initially found eight green sacks containing well-packaged black plastic bags. One sack was opened, revealing 40 one-kilogram bags of ice. The total estimated weight in all eight sacks is about 320 kilograms, with a combined value of approximately 50 million baht.
Authorities have seized all the contraband but have not disclosed further details. The investigation is ongoing as police continue efforts to track down and dismantle this major drug trafficking network.
