Relatives of three victims revealed that Pong often wore police uniforms, vests, and jackets for a long time. Whenever he encountered someone pointing a gun at him, he would always threaten back. They said they do not understand his motives and no longer have suspicions about the local Huay Yai Police regarding the neutral gear issue.
The community continues to follow the shocking five-person murder case involving two Russian siblings and their family buried on the hill at Mabfak Thong near Yan Sangwonaram Temple, along the new Motorway (Bangkok–Map Ta Phut) at kilometer 139, and the coconut grove opposite, in Huay Yai Subdistrict, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi Province. Police have arrested a gang of four brutal killers: Mr. Thana, or Pong Kerdthong, 43; Mr. Thongchai, or Thong Srinil, 39; Mr. Atsadang, or Ball Chuwong, 25; and Mr. Chatchanan, or Fluk Paeniam, 24. Investigations are ongoing to find if there are more victims beyond the five bodies. Witnesses and other victims have come forward exposing Pong’s cruel behavior, claiming he impersonated a police officer and was involved in drug trafficking for local police, as previously reported.
At 12:00 on 4 Aug 2026 GMT+7, at the Forensic Institute of the Police Hospital, Mr. Krisda Chatin, 36, nephew of the family with three victims who were murdered and buried in Huay Yai Subdistrict, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi Province, came to collect all three bodies to conduct religious rites at Khao Boonmee Dararam Temple (Thung Kha Temple) in Chonburi Province.
Mr. Krisda stated that Mrs. Chantana, one of the deceased, was his aunt. He was entrusted by the family to collect the bodies to hold funeral prayers scheduled for three to four nights, with cremation planned for 8 Aug.
So far, the family cannot come to terms with the incident. The cruelty of the perpetrators exceeds forgiveness, especially Pong, who had been released from prison only two months prior and then committed the murders of five people. The family believes he deserves the death penalty.
He knows the suspects as they are local to the area. Although not close, he was aware of their past reckless behavior, including carrying guns to threaten villagers. However, he did not know if the police were protecting them or if they were police youths. Regarding Pong’s habit of wearing police-like jackets or vests, locals knew well that he was not a real officer.
During a detention hearing, he had the chance to confront Pong. He looked him in the eye and said, “You will surely be executed.” Upon recognizing him, Pong lowered his head and apologized.
Regarding the work of the local Huay Yai Police, initially, when the missing persons were reported on 7 July, the police were negligent and slow to investigate the residences or leads seriously, which resulted in a major loss. However, the family now accepts the situation and has spoken with the police.
Reports state that at times, Mr. Krisda described Pong’s behavior: when young, Pong would always pull out a gun to threaten anyone he met—friends or younger people—constantly pointing and threatening with his firearm. He did not know why he did it. As for the police uniform, Pong had been wearing it for a long time, including vests and jackets. Locals knew he was not a real policeman, but outsiders might not have known.
