
"Big Ran" – Pol. Lt. Gen. Piyawat and Pol. Lt. Gen. Nopasil led a team to surround and fatally shoot two suspects in the Tak Bai police shooting case, while rushing to capture one more suspect.
Following an incident where police enforced the law by pursuing a group of armed suspects who fired back, resulting in the deaths of two Tak Bai Police Station officers and injuries to four others. The event occurred within an oil palm plantation in Village 6, Phraiwan Subdistrict, Tak Bai District, Narathiwat Province on 2 August.
Most recently, on 5 August, Pol. Gen. Samran Nuangma, Deputy Commissioner of the Royal Thai Police, along with Pol. Lt. Gen. Nopasil Poolsawas, Chief of the Office of the Royal Thai Police Commander, and Pol. Lt. Gen. Piyawat Chalermsri, Commander of Provincial Police Region 9, led forces from the Provincial Police Region 9 Investigation Division, Pol. Maj. Gen. Chumpol Saksureemongkol, the Narathiwat Provincial Police Investigation Unit, Special Operations Unit Border Patrol Police 44, and the 11th Ranger Regiment in a raid on a house in Kieo Subdistrict, Sukhirin District, Narathiwat.
During the operation, the suspects inside the house fired at officers, triggering a gunfight. The officers fatally shot two suspects on the spot, initially believed to be Sahman Malee and Abdulmukhlis Puteh. Authorities are currently awaiting forensic verification to officially confirm their identities.
The remaining one suspect is still being pursued by authorities.
Officials have publicly warned that anyone providing shelter, hiding, or assisting the fleeing suspects will face legal charges and strict prosecution.
