A relative of “Teacher Kanun” opened up after hearing the news of the shooting at Thepsirin School in Nonthaburi. They tried calling her but no one answered until a rescue worker picked up and delivered the bad news. They revealed that Teacher Kanun was the main pillar of her family.

On 7 Aug 2026 GMT+7, reporters reported that a Grade 9 student opened fire on teachers and students inside Thepsirin School in Nonthaburi, causing 7 deaths (according to the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation) and injuring 21 others.

Initial reports list six named victims: Mr. Kittipong Samrat, Deputy Director of Administrative Affairs; Ms. Saifon Sirikitjakorn, classroom secretary; Ms. Thiwaporn Wanich, guidance counselor; Second Lieutenant Female Nanchanatporn Nakplang, known as Teacher Kanun, Thai language teacher; Ms. Praporn Konsila, mathematics teacher; and the 14-year-old male student perpetrator.

Inquiries with Ms. Warinthorn Thongwatana, a relative of Teacher Kanun, Second Lieutenant Female Nanchanatporn Nakplang, age 31, Thai language teacher, revealed that upon hearing of the shooting at the school, she tried to contact Teacher Kanun but no one answered. When she called again, a rescue worker answered and delivered the tragic news, prompting her to rush to the school immediately.

Ms. Warinthorn said Teacher Kanun had taught at this school for 8 years and was also an alumnus. Teacher Kanun was the family's main support due to her stable employment.

She never discussed the students' behavior before, but just last week, a student in Teacher Kanun’s homeroom class died after falling from a building and was cremated only days ago. Now, tragically, Teacher Kanun has also died.
