The Commander of Provincial Police Region 1 revealed that a Grade 9 student who carried out a mass shooting at Thepsirin School in Nonthaburi used a computer to record and watch foreign mass shooting clips before committing the act.
At 14:40 on 7 August 2026, Police Lieutenant General Watthana Yijin, Commander of Provincial Police Region 1, along with administrative officers, rescue workers, and forensic staff, inspected the residence in Bang Kurat area, Bang Bua Thong District, Nonthaburi Province, of the boy who committed the school shooting. The house is a two-story detached home with a secure fence. Inside, two bodies were found, believed to be the suspect’s grandfather and grandmother. Authorities are currently collecting evidence.
Police Lieutenant General Watthana disclosed that the house’s gate was initially locked from outside, so officers had to cut their way in. They found two deceased persons, the boy’s grandfather and grandmother. The grandfather was shot from the back through to the front, suggesting he was shot first, followed by the grandmother who was asleep. The door was then locked, apparently to prevent others from knowing what happened inside, before the suspect went on to commit the school shooting.
However, official details await medical examination results. At the time of the incident, no neighbors heard gunshots because the area consists mainly of unoccupied or abandoned houses, resulting in no witnesses to the sound.
Regarding the motive and the suspect’s behavior, authorities are conducting a detailed examination of the boy’s computer usage, as he frequently used computers. It is not yet known whether violent games were involved, and other possible motives are also being investigated.
Reports indicate the desktop computer contained five video files of foreign mass shooting events, which the suspect had viewed since 30 July, prior to the tragic attack on 7 August 2026.
