On 8 August 2026, Pol. Maj. Gen. Witthaya Sriprasertphap, Commander of the Anti-Trafficking Police Division, ordered Pol. Col. Korkiat Wutichamnong, Superintendent of Division 1, and Pol. Lt. Korkiat Kiattitang, Investigator of Division 1, to lead a team to arrest Mr. Somkid Thuma, 60, under a warrant issued by the South Bangkok Criminal Court No. 1011/2569 dated 3 August 2026. He was charged with abducting a minor for immoral purposes and rape using violence. The arrest took place in front of an unnamed rented house inside Soi Thetsaban Bang Pu 61, Tambon Thaibanmai, Mueang Samut Prakan District.

This arrest followed an incident on the afternoon of 31 July, when Ms. Ae (alias), 17, who has intellectual developmental delays, was waiting for her mother to finish work outside a club in Silom Soi, Suriyawong Subdistrict, Bang Rak District, Bangkok. At that time, Mr. Somkid, a motorcycle delivery rider, approached and asked where she was from, what she was doing, and why she was sitting alone there.

After learning she was alone, he tricked her by inviting her to eat and offered to teach her massage skills so she could use them for work. He then took her on the motorcycle to a love hotel and forced himself on her. The girl tried to resist by kicking but could not overpower him. The rider sexually assaulted her before returning her to the original spot, warning her not to tell anyone and to keep it secret. When the girl’s mother’s coworker saw her standing outside the club, she quickly informed the mother, who went to find her daughter and learned everything. They reported the case to Bang Rak Police Station, which led to the court issuing an arrest warrant, followed by the Anti-Trafficking Police Division 1 arresting the suspect.

During interrogation, the suspect confessed to all charges. He was handed over to investigators at Bang Rak Police Station to proceed with legal action.
