Chulapan expressed concern for the heirs of those killed and injured in the Thap Siri School shooting in Nonthaburi, ordering the Social Security Office to expedite compensation and fully safeguard their benefits and rights.
At 1:00 p.m. on 8 August 2026, at the Nonthawat Wiboon Prachasan Hall, Wat Bang Oi Chang, Bang Kruai-Sai Noi Road, Bang Kruai Subdistrict, Bang Kruai District, Nonthaburi, the family brought the body of Ms. Praphaporn Konsila, or Teacher Paew, aged 41, a mathematics teacher at Thap Siri Nonthaburi School, who was fatally shot, to lie in state for Buddhist funeral rites at the temple. Besides relatives, many fellow teachers and former students gathered to pour water over the urn, creating a somber and sorrowful atmosphere.
At 4:45 p.m., officials from the Royal Household Bureau brought the royal purification water to the temple. Labor Minister Chulapan Amornwiwat represented the ceremony of pouring the royal water, while Ms. Panisara Kanjanjitra, Deputy Governor of Nonthaburi, represented the presentation of the royal wreath. Teacher Paew’s husband, son, family, colleagues, and relevant department heads attended the ceremony.
Mr. Thanapat Somsri, 49, Teacher Paew’s husband, tearfully said they had lived together since 2009 and have one son currently in Grade 6. Every morning, Teacher Paew would prepare breakfast, bathe their son, and take him to school before going to work. She was kind-hearted, and their life together was always harmonious. On the day of the incident, she left for work as usual without any signs of trouble. Upon receiving the news, he was shocked and never imagined this would happen to his family. Now everything feels dark and uncertain. The three of them—father, mother, and son—used to go everywhere together, but that is no longer possible.
A former student of Teacher Paew attending the funeral said that she was very approachable and kind. She always tried to help students understand the lessons. Even during extra tutoring, she patiently ensured everyone comprehended the material. There were never any conflicts with students. They feel deeply saddened and wish such an incident had never occurred, feeling very distressed.
Regarding assistance, Labor Minister Chulapan Amornwiwat expressed concern for the families of the eight deceased and 21 injured from the Thap Siri Nonthaburi school shooting. He assigned Ms. Kanchana Poonkaew, Secretary-General of the Social Security Office, to verify facts and expedite compensation and benefits to those affected. He emphasized that the deceased and injured must receive full, prompt, and fair benefits from the Social Security Fund and Workmen’s Compensation Fund.
Ms. Kanchana Poonkaew, Secretary-General of the Social Security Office, revealed that after the incident, she assigned Mr. Prayok Kulcharoen, Social Security Officer of Nonthaburi Province, to preliminarily verify the deceased and injured. Among the eight deceased, six were or had been insured employees. These include three work-related injured, two work-related deceased, one deceased under Social Security Section 40, and three former insured employees. Details are as follows.
