CCTV footage revealed the moment when Chalong Riowrang, a former multiple-term MP, followed and shot the Nonthaburi Provincial Administrative Organization chief inside a car. The driver escaped immediately but was injured. Chalong circled around the car before walking away from the scene carrying a gun, until he was arrested.
On 10 Aug 2026 GMT+7, Chalong Riowrang, former multiple-term MP of Nonthaburi, attacked and shot Pol. Col. Thongchai Yenprasert, chief of the Nonthaburi Provincial Administrative Organization, inside the organization's office located within the Nonthaburi provincial hall.
After the incident, Chalong walked out and took a motorcycle taxi away from the scene. Police later arrested him near a car showroom not far from the location. While in custody, Chalong called Ms. Anchalee Pairirak, also known as Jay Pong, to inform her he had shot Pol. Col. Thongchai, the head of the Nonthaburi Provincial Administrative Organization.
During police questioning at Rattanathibet Police Station, Chalong briefly told reporters that he had asked Pol. Col. Thongchai for help but was refused, which led to the shooting. Further details are still under investigation.
Reviewing CCTV at the time of the shooting shows Pol. Col. Thongchai’s driver exiting the Nonthaburi Provincial Administrative Organization building inside the provincial hall, then getting into the private car. Pol. Col. Thongchai followed and immediately sat inside the vehicle. Chalong, holding a gun, then approached and talked near the car. Within a minute, he fired multiple shots at Pol. Col. Thongchai, who was seated by the front passenger side. The driver opened the door and fled the scene.
Chalong then walked around to check on the driver before returning to stand by the front passenger side of the car again. After a short while, he held the gun and left the crime scene.
A security guard at the scene recounted that around 11 a.m., while on duty, he suddenly heard 3-4 gunshots followed by screams near the Nonthaburi Provincial Administrative Organization building. He ran out and saw an older man in black walk past carrying a handgun concealed in his shirt. When the guard tried to approach, the man warned him, saying, “Don’t interfere.” Because the man was armed, the guard kept his distance as the man left toward the organization's entrance.
Later, the guard learned that the Provincial Administrative Organization chief had been shot, and the chief’s driver was also injured. Just before the shooting, the chief had an appointment to go out for an event.
