The court denied temporary release for "Chalong Riewrang" after his bail application, citing the case's seriousness, high penalty, and concerns he might flee, issuing a detention warrant.
On the morning of 11 Aug at Nonthaburi Provincial Court, investigators from Rattanathibet Police Station submitted detention request No. Fa. 823/2569 for the first detention of Mr. Chalong Riewrang, age 71, the suspect who shot Pol. Col. Thongchai Yenprasert, Nonthaburi Provincial Administrative Organization chief, causing his death and injuring the driver. Charges include intentional homicide, attempted murder, carrying a firearm in a city, village, or public place without permission and without just cause, discharging a firearm using explosives without cause in a city, village, or community under Penal Code Sections 32, 33, 80, 91, 288, 371, 376, and Firearms Act of 1947 Sections 4, 7, 8 bis, 72, and 72 bis.
After completing the detention process, the suspect submitted a request for temporary release at this stage.
The Nonthaburi Provincial Court ordered denial of temporary release because the case’s circumstances are serious and heinous, carry high penalties, and the investigator opposed bail, fearing the suspect might flee or commit other offenses, thus the request was rejected and a detention warrant issued.
