The autopsy of Police Colonel Thongchai, Chief of the Nonthaburi Provincial Administrative Organization, found bullets lodged in and passing through his body. The critical wound was located in the neck area, where a bullet pierced a major artery, causing massive blood loss and resulting in death.
On 11 August 2026 at the Institute of Forensic Medicine, Police Hospital, Major General Wirun Supasinghiripreecha, Commander of the Institute, revealed preliminary autopsy results of Police Colonel Thongchai Yenprasert, Chief of Nonthaburi Provincial Administrative Organization. He found gunshot wounds with bullets both lodged inside and passing through the body. The key wound was in the neck, where the bullet injured a major artery causing extensive blood loss, which was the primary cause of death.
When asked about the number of bullets that entered the body, the forensic institute commander stated that there were both lodged and through-and-through bullets but declined to disclose further details at this time.
Regarding details about the bullet trajectories and forensic information, coordination with investigators has been made. Preliminary data will be provided to the investigators to support ongoing legal proceedings.
Meanwhile, the family did not request additional examinations. The autopsy was conducted according to standard procedures as with other deceased individuals. The autopsy is now complete, and the body has been handed over to relatives for religious rites.
Concerning whether the neck artery wound corresponds with the hospital’s need to mobilize blood donations for treatment, the forensic institute commander said it is possible. Because the artery in that area carries a large volume of blood, significant blood loss can occur rapidly.
Details about the suspect’s behavior, shooting distance, or bullet trajectory are matters for investigators, who will use forensic findings to further their inquiry.
