Police Sergeant shot his nurse wife while she was driving; the car lost control and crashed into their own home before he tried to take his own life. Relatives helped rush them to the hospital. The wife has since died, while the family admitted both had hot tempers.
Police Sergeant Thanakrit, 29, had a verbal dispute with his wife Jeerapa, 30, inside their white Honda sedan registered in Bangkok. He fired a 9mm gun at Jeerapa’s head while she was driving, causing the car to lose control and crash into their shop-house. Thanakrit then shot himself and was injured. Relatives broke the car window to rescue them and rushed both to Sri Mahosot Hospital. Due to serious injuries, they were transferred to Chaophraya Abhaibhubejhr Hospital. The incident occurred at about 18:30 on 10 Aug 2016.
Regarding the case, Police Major General Saranyapat Yotsombat, Chief of Prachinburi Provincial Police, Police Colonel Thanakrit Paphirum, Deputy Chief of Prachinburi Police, and forensic officers inspected the scene. They found the white Honda sedan inside the residence with a cracked windshield on the driver’s side and a large hole in the left driver’s window. Inside, there was a large pool of blood on the front passenger seat. A 9mm pistol with a magazine containing nine rounds and two shell casings were found and collected as evidence.
Initial investigation revealed Police Sergeant Thanakrit was an investigator at Sri Mahosot Police Station, and Jeerapa worked as a nurse at Kabinburi Hospital. After work, Jeerapa drove the car to pick up Thanakrit at the police station so they could go pick up their child at the home, which belonged to the husband’s father. While parked in front of the house, they argued inside the car. Thanakrit then shot his wife with his service pistol before shooting himself, causing the car to crash into the house. Relatives broke the car window to rescue them and took both to the hospital. The family confirmed the couple often argued and had hot tempers, with no involvement of a third party.
Later reports confirmed that Jeerapa, the wife, died at 23:00 on the day of the incident.
