On 12 Aug 2026, following reports circulating on social media and public pages about the heated incident where the Deputy Superintendent of Investigation at Thung Yai Police Station, Nakhon Si Thammarat, was slapped on the ear by a former minister at a local politician's mother's funeral.
The latest update: Nakhon Si Thammarat Provincial Police released a statement noting that, as news spread on social media about a famous MP from Nakhon Si Thammarat slapping a deputy police superintendent in the province.

On 12 Aug 2026, Police Major General Pornchai Khajornklin, Deputy Commander of Region 8 and Acting Commander of Nakhon Si Thammarat Provincial Police, along with Police Colonel Khajit Kongprab, Deputy Commander, Police Colonel Natsawut Thongthip, Deputy Commander, and Police Colonel Theerawut Thepleuan, Superintendent of Investigation in Nakhon Si Thammarat, conducted on-site investigations. They also instructed Police Major General Lertchai Champathong, Commander of Region 8 Investigation Division, to lead a team of investigators and officers from Region 8 Provincial Police to join the examination of the incident location.
Initial information reveals that on 8 Aug 2026, at Huakhuan Village, Moo 2, Prik Subdistrict, Thung Yai District, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Police Lieutenant Colonel Thanongsak Sawatsikomon, Deputy Superintendent of Investigation at Thung Yai Police Station, and relatives attended the funeral rites of the mother of the mayor of Prik Subdistrict. After the evening prayers at approximately 11:30 p.m., he was drinking alcohol with MP Chaiyachana Dechdecho, during which a verbal dispute escalated to physical assault.
Following the investigation, Police Lieutenant Colonel Thanongsak completed his statements and proceeded to inspect the scene and interview other witnesses present. Additional evidence will be collected. The investigation is proceeding without any obstacles. The command of Region 8 Provincial Police has deployed officers from the Region 8 Investigation Division to support the inquiry.
