Police Sergeant Caught Using Meth During Online Training at Thalenoi Police Station, Phatthalung

The police force faces another scandal as a sergeant from Thalenoi Police Station, Phatthalung Province, was caught on video using methamphetamine during an online training course titled "Efficiency Development for Police Officers" via Zoom. The police chief was in a meeting, while the Provincial Police Commander of Phatthalung ordered an immediate inquiry. If found guilty, the sergeant will face disciplinary action.

On 13 Aug 2026 in Phatthalung Province, reporters reported that the Provincial Police Region 9 held an online training on "Efficiency Development for Police Officers" for the rank of sergeant to deputy superintendent on 10 Aug 2026. A total of 259 officers attended via Zoom or VTV. During the session, a sergeant from Thalenoi Police Station in Phatthalung was seen using drugs on camera. Several officers attending the session found this behavior unacceptable, recorded the video as evidence, and reported it to their superiors and the media to investigate the officer’s conduct and integrity, questioning why he would use drugs openly in front of colleagues and supervisors.

Recently, reporters visited Thalenoi Police Station in Phatthalung to inquire about the matter from Pol. Col. Rangsee Manjit, Chief of Thalenoi Police Station. However, the chief was unavailable due to attending a senior management training. A police officer at the station, appearing to defend the colleague, stated that drug use by police officers is not a serious issue but is socially unacceptable.

Pol. Maj. Gen. Chaowalit Liangsuphong, Provincial Police Commander of Phatthalung, disclosed that upon learning about the online reports, he instructed Pol. Col. Rangsee Manjit, Chief of Thalenoi Police Station, to urgently investigate the incident. If the allegations are confirmed, strict disciplinary measures will be taken.

Additional reports reveal that the sergeant previously worked in Trang Province and was transferred to Thalenoi Police Station in Phatthalung two years ago. He has a history involving drugs and pawning official firearms and police vehicles but has so far avoided disciplinary action due to support from superiors.

Further reports state that the sergeant holds the position of patrol squad leader at Thalenoi Police Station and currently serves as a radio operator. The video clearly shows him using drugs during a lecture by the instructor.
