It was shocking that some officers at the police station commented, "Police using drugs is not a serious issue, just socially unacceptable."
Regarding the case circulating on social media and public pages, a police sergeant holding the position of group leader (operational) at Thalenoi Police Station, Phatthalung Province, was shown using methamphetamine during a Zoom training session. The training was part of a course to improve the efficiency of police officers at the group leader to deputy superintendent level for the 2026 fiscal year on 10 August, as previously reported.
The latest update on 13 August 2026, Phatthalung Provincial Police issued a public statement clarifying the media reports about the video showing inappropriate conduct by a police officer.
The media reported inappropriate behavior by a police officer on Tuesday, 11 August 2026. Upon investigation, it was confirmed that the individual is a police officer at Thalenoi Police Station.
Phatthalung Provincial Police have instructed Thalenoi Police Station to establish a fact-finding committee. The investigation will proceed under the relevant authority, covering both criminal and disciplinary offenses.
A reporter who visited Thalenoi Police Station in Phatthalung to inquire about the behavior of the officer in question spoke with Pol. Col. Rangsee Manjit, Chief of Thalenoi Police Station; however, he was unavailable due to attending senior management training.
However, in discussions with an older police officer at Thalenoi Police Station, the officer seemed to be defending the accused and stated, "Police using drugs is not a serious issue; it is only society that does not accept it."
Later, it was learned from a police officer at Thalenoi Police Station that the sergeant involved had disappeared after the scandal. On 13 August 2026, he did not attend a practical training session at the Police Training Center Region 9 in Yala Province. The reporter requested fellow officers to contact him to verify the facts and whether the video was accurate or if he was being framed, to ensure fairness. However, they were unable to reach him.
When asked if the sergeant had a history related to drug use, his fellow officers declined to answer the question.
