Chalong Riewrang, the suspect in the shooting of the Nonthaburi Provincial Administrative Organization president, is spending his second night in prison, continuing to have difficulty sleeping and waking during the night. Doctors are scheduled to assess his condition on 17 August.
On 13 August 2026, reporters reported that Chalong Riewrang was placed in custody at Nonthaburi Provincial Prison during his trial. He remains in the COVID-19 isolation room for two days. Overall, Chalong experiences restless sleep at night because he naturally has difficulty sleeping. When outside, he takes sleeping pills, which must be prescribed and assessed by a doctor. A doctor will evaluate his condition again on 17 August.
Regarding his health, Chalong has a pre-existing condition of high blood pressure for which he regularly takes medication. A health check earlier today showed his blood pressure slightly elevated but without dizziness, headaches, or fainting. As for meals, on the evening of 12 August, Chalong ate a menu including pumpkin chicken curry, stir-fried morning glory in oyster sauce, and steamed rice.
For breakfast on 13 August, the menu was Cantonese chicken soup and steamed rice. Chalong only ate a small amount and has not requested any additional items so far.
Since Chalong is elderly with underlying health issues, after completing COVID-19 quarantine, his care placement will depend on the health evaluation results—whether he needs hospital ward care or can remain in the general prison area. Correctional staff have a monitoring system and access to care per standards. At present, there are no concerning abnormalities.
