The Border Patrol Police Command clarifies the issue of allowances for personnel on the Thai-Cambodian border after a Democrat Party spokesperson revealed that Region 1 Border Patrol Police at the frontline have been owed their allowances for five months. The command insists it has not neglected the matter and is reviewing it.
The Democrat Party spokesperson referred to complaints from Region 1 Border Patrol Police personnel along the Thai-Cambodian border, who have faced problems due to delayed fixed daily allowances of 240 baht since March, totaling five full months. The personnel received a response from their command stating that the government has yet to approve the budget.
The Border Patrol Police Command states that regarding the complaint about travel expenses (allowances) for personnel on duty guarding sovereignty along the Thai-Cambodian border, it emphasizes that it is not ignoring the difficulties faced by personnel and has been continuously managing the budget according to procedures since the fiscal year 2026 (starting 1 Oct 2025).
The Border Patrol Police Command received budget allocations for sovereignty monitoring missions along the Thai-Cambodian border from the Royal Thai Police. Between October 2025 and April 2026, the budget was allocated four times. For the first three periods (October 2025 to February 2026), disbursements have been completed. For the fourth period (March to April 2026), the command has transferred the budget to the respective units, which are now processing payments to personnel.
Regarding travel expenses (allowances) for the period May to July 2026, the Border Patrol Police Command has already requested budget support from the Royal Thai Police.
The Royal Thai Police has coordinated by applying for central budget support, seeking approval from the Prime Minister, and forwarded this request to the Budget Bureau. The matter is currently under consideration.
To protect personnel benefits, the Border Patrol Police Command leadership prioritizes the rights and welfare of its personnel. Pol. Lt. Gen. Rungroj Thakoonpunyasiri, BPP Command Chief, has instructed all units to handle this matter transparently, uphold the rights of personnel on duty, and ensure clear, detailed communication with personnel, providing channels for inquiries if there are any questions.
