On 14 Aug 2026 GMT+7, Pol. Lt. Gen. Suraphol Prembutr, Commander of the Cyber Crime Division, along with Pol. Lt. Gen. Naradet Thiprak, Commander at the Royal Thai Police Office, assigned Pol. Maj. Gen. Siriwat Deepor, Commander of Cyber Crime Division 1, Pol. Col. Kritin Tapsilo, Chief of News Analysis and Special Tools Division, and Pol. Lt. Col. Okorn Klomkul, Deputy Chief of News Analysis and Special Tools Division, to arrest Ms. Suthida Srikasem, 23, from Buriram province, for offenses related to online gambling.
Investigations by the News Analysis and Special Tools Division, Cyber Crime Division 1, detected wrongdoing by a Facebook account that posted sexy videos or images of herself on her story, along with links to the online gambling website “Playnews 789.” This openly encouraged viewers to engage in gambling on the 2006 World Cup matches, showing no fear of the law.
Further investigation revealed that Ms. Suthida, known as Maprang, is a sexy influencer with over 40,000 Facebook followers and more than 240,000 Instagram followers. Authorities gathered evidence and issued a summons for her to acknowledge the charges on 13 Aug.
Subsequently, Ms. Suthida met with investigators and admitted posting content linking to the gambling website. She explained she urgently needed money and decided to accept the work, receiving payment from those who contacted her via her Facebook page, earning 3,000 baht weekly. She was charged with "directly or indirectly advertising or inviting others to gamble via electronic media without permission from authorities."
Investigators then forwarded Ms. Suthida’s case to the Don Mueang District Court, which sentenced her to 8 months in prison. After she confessed, her sentence was halved to 4 months, which was then converted to 4 months of detention.
