The Songkhla Provincial Court formally accepted charges against Chonnaphat Naksua, a Kla Tham Party MP, in the online gambling website case, setting a plea hearing for 29 September.
On 14 Aug 2026 at Songkhla Provincial Court, the public prosecutor presented Chonnaphat Naksua, an MP from the Kla Tham Party in Songkhla Province, to face charges of jointly organizing gambling or devising schemes, assisting, announcing, advertising, or directly or indirectly inviting others to participate in or engage in online gambling without official permission.
The prosecution alleged that between 8 and 24 Feb 2022, the defendant, together with co-defendants in other cases and associates still at large, jointly organized online gambling via electronic media through a social network website offering various types of gambling. This was illegal gambling involving stakes and advertising to the public or others interested in online gambling, inviting participation through the defendant’s website without lawful authorization, violating the law. The incident occurred in Kho Hong Subdistrict, Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province.
On 17 Jul 2024, the defendant met with the police, who informed him of the charges and conducted an investigation. The defendant denied the allegations during questioning. He was not detained during the investigation and has been released on bail throughout. The police requested a postponement of prosecution with the court. Today, the prosecution presented the defendant to the court with charges. If the defendant requests bail, the prosecution leaves the decision to the court’s discretion.
After the court accepted the charges, the defendant filed a bail request with security. The court reviewed and granted temporary bail, scheduling the plea hearing for 29 September 2026.
