Phatthalung authorities are urgently seeking Police Sergeant Veerasak Sukram of Thalenoi Police Station after a video surfaced showing behavior resembling drug use during an online training session. The department has filed a daily report at Khuan Khanun Police Station and plans disciplinary action if he is absent from duty for more than 15 days without leave or contact.
On 18 Aug 2026, social media and public pages circulated information showing Police Sergeant Veerasak Sukram, a patrol unit leader at Thalenoi Police Station in Phatthalung, appearing to use methamphetamine during a Zoom training session for police officers at the patrol leader to deputy superintendent level, held on 10 Aug 2026. Subsequently, the Phatthalung Provincial Police ordered Thalenoi Police Station to form an investigative committee to examine both criminal and disciplinary violations, as previously reported.
In the latest update, Police Colonel Rangsi Manjit, Chief of Thalenoi Police Station, revealed that Sergeant Veerasak has not yet been located or reported to his superiors. He has directed the investigation team at Thalenoi Police Station to coordinate with Khuan Khanun Police investigation unit to expedite locating him for questioning regarding the incident.
Initially, Thalenoi Police Station filed a daily report at Khuan Khanun Police Station and deployed investigation teams to the field since the incident shown in the video occurred at a residence in Village 11, Pantae Subdistrict, Khuan Khanun District, Phatthalung. This is the home of Sergeant Veerasak's mother and falls under Khuan Khanun Police jurisdiction. However, neither the sergeant nor drug paraphernalia were found.
Sergeant Veerasak was ordered to attend a police efficiency development training course from 10 to 11 Aug 2026 via video conference. He was scheduled for practical training in Yala Province from 12 to 14 Aug 2026.
However, authorities have yet to contact or locate him to clarify the facts. His superiors will proceed with a thorough fact-finding investigation, including a detailed review of his absence status.
If it is confirmed that he has been absent without leave for over 15 consecutive days, this may constitute serious disciplinary misconduct for willful neglect of duty, subject to regulations. The penalty could be dismissal or termination from service. Other issues, including drug-related allegations, await the results of official investigations and evidence collection.
Meanwhile, investigation teams from both Thalenoi and Khuan Khanun Police Stations continue to search for Sergeant Veerasak to compel him to report and explain the situation to his superiors, as well as to carry out further procedural inquiries.
Reports indicate that during an interview, Police Colonel Rangsi Manjit stated that when inspecting the room at Sergeant Veerasak's residence used during the online training, no drug-related equipment matching the images in the video was found.
