Tragic Incident: 36-Year-Old Man Rents Gun at Shooting Range, Claims to Step Out for a Smoke Before Taking His Own Life

A tragic incident occurred involving a 36-year-old man who rented a gun from a shooting range in Bang Bua Thong, claiming he stepped out to smoke before taking his own life. He was found to have a history of depression.

At 11:30 a.m. on 18 Aug 2026, Pol. Col. Thatsakorn Kontong, Superintendent of Bang Bua Thong Police Station, along with Pol. Lt. Col. Chanathip Panthong, Deputy Superintendent of the station, Pol. Lt. Col. Sirodom Sripanya, investigation officer, Mr. Phairoj Jungthanacharoen, Bang Bua Thong District Chief, Mr. Yosawat Khongmee, Senior District Officer, and police officers received a report of a shooting death at a shooting range in Bang Bua Thong, Kanchanaphisek Road, Bang Bua Thong Subdistrict, Nonthaburi Province. They coordinated with Ruamkatanyu Foundation volunteers, forensic officers, and medical staff from the Institute of Forensic Science to promptly investigate the scene.

The scene outside the shooting training building revealed the body of Mr. Nuad, 36, a resident of Saothonghin Subdistrict, Bang Yai District, Nonthaburi Province, lying in a pool of blood. He wore a white T-shirt and long jeans. An 11 mm firearm was found beside his body. He had a gunshot wound to the head.

According to Mr. Chai, a range official and eyewitness, the deceased rented a gun at the shooting range and attempted to take the weapon outside. Staff prevented him from doing so. He then asked to go out for a cigarette. Despite being prohibited from taking the gun outside, he ignored the warning and took the firearm out, where he committed the tragic act.

Relatives of the deceased reported that he had a history of depression, which they believe was likely the cause of this incident.

Initially, forensic officers examined the evidence. The autopsy revealed a gunshot wound to the right temple. The body was then handed over to rescue personnel to be transported to the Institute of Forensic Science for a detailed autopsy.
