The Provincial Police Commander of Phatthalung is preparing to consider dismissing a police sergeant from Thalenoi Police Station, who remains in seclusion and has not come forward to explain allegations of using methamphetamine during an online training session.
On 20 August 2026 in Phatthalung Province, reporters reported that the Provincial Police Region 9 organized a police performance development training course for officers in prevention and suppression, investigation, intelligence, traffic, and administrative divisions for the fiscal year 2026. The training was held from 10 to 14 August 2026, with sessions conducted via video conference on 10–11 August at participants' homes, followed by in-person practical training at the Region 9 Training Center in Yala Province from 12 to 14 August 2026.
On 10 August 2026, Police Sergeant Veerasak Sukram, a platoon commander (patrol) at Thalenoi Police Station in Phatthalung, currently serving as a radio operator there, was observed exhibiting behavior resembling drug use, appearing to consume narcotics in front of the video conference camera during the training.
This incident shocked many police officers attending the meeting, who found it unacceptable. They recorded the event and reported it to their superiors and asked reporters to investigate the dignity of the officer involved. Police Major General Chaowalit Liangsupong, Provincial Police Commander of Phatthalung, ordered Police Colonel Rangsee Manjit, Chief of Thalenoi Police Station, to urgently investigate the facts. If confirmed, strict disciplinary and legal actions will be taken, as previously reported.
In the latest development, reporters inquired with Police Major General Chaowalit Liangsupong, who stated that dismissal will be considered if the officer is absent from duty for more than 15 days without valid reason.
Regarding efforts to locate Police Sergeant Veerasak Sukram for questioning about the scandalous video showing behavior resembling drug use during online training, the commander has not yet been able to contact him. The officer also did not attend the practical training at the Region 9 Training Center in Yala Province from 12 to 14 August 2026.
