Kamphaeng Phet—A trainee police cadet was arrested after stealing a villager's pickup truck. Police from Khanu Woralaksaburi Police Station intercepted the suspect, causing chaos and confusion. The suspect has been charged with two offenses: theft and resisting or obstructing officers in the line of duty.


Social media circulated a video showing police officers attempting to detain a man dressed like a police officer who resisted arrest, causing a chaotic scene. The man claimed to be a police officer from Nong Sano Police Station in Sam Ngam District, Phichit Province. After the clip was shared, it triggered widespread public criticism.


Journalists investigated and found that the incident occurred on 18 August 2026 at 09:30. Khanu Woralaksaburi Police in Kamphaeng Phet received a report of a stolen Toyota pickup truck, license plate BL 1621 Nakhon Sawan, belonging to Mr. Boonchert, 66, a resident of Village 16, Pa Phutsa Subdistrict, Khanu Woralaksaburi District, Kamphaeng Phet. The truck was parked in front of a company branch in Pa Phutsa Subdistrict. After the theft, the owner contacted police to intercept the vehicle. The suspect drove towards a traffic checkpoint near the Pa Phutsa Subdistrict Administrative Organization office. Police signaled the driver to stop, but he sped up to break through the checkpoint. Police pursued closely and eventually signaled the suspect to stop, succeeding in the arrest.

The driver claimed to be Chaninthorn, 24, a trainee police cadet from Nong Sano Police Station in Sam Ngam District, Phichit Province. After exiting the vehicle, he resisted arrest and physically fought the officers. After more than 10 minutes, police subdued him and brought him to Khanu Woralaksaburi Police Station for prosecution.


Initial investigation by Khanu Woralaksaburi Police confirmed that Chaninthorn, 24, is indeed a trainee cadet at Nong Sano Police Station in Sam Ngam District, Phichit. He was charged with two offenses: 1. theft, and 2. resisting or obstructing officers under the law. He was remanded at Kamphaeng Phet Provincial Court on the morning of 20 August 2026.
