Husband Shoots Deputy Subdistrict Head to Death Before Taking His Own Life Jealousy Found in Chat Messages

In Phetchabun, the bodies of the deputy subdistrict head and her husband were found dead inside their home. Chat messages on a mobile phone revealed jealousy issues. It is believed the husband shot his wife before committing suicide. The bodies were sent for autopsy, and relatives did not dispute the cause of death.

At 02:50 on 21 Aug 2016, Police Lieutenant Colonel Phithak De-saeng, Deputy Investigator at Ban Klang Police Station, Ban Klang Subdistrict, Lom Sak District, Phetchabun Province, received a report of a double homicide. He, along with Police Colonel Phasan Sangthong, Chief of Ban Klang Police Station, and several officers, went to investigate.

At the scene inside the downstairs bedroom, the body of Ms. Sudjai Lodtasan, 44, wearing black shorts and a brown bra with no shirt, was found. She had been shot with a 9mm firearm in the nose bridge and right eye socket, sitting on a chair with her head resting on the bed. Nearby was the body of Mr. Yongyut Sudjamlong, 47, her husband, lying on his back on the floor beside the bed wearing gray boxer shorts. He had a gunshot wound to the head. A 9mm Glock handgun was found near his body, along with nine spent cartridges and one bullet.

Police Colonel Phasan Sangthong stated that the deceased were husband and wife. Ms. Sudjai was the Deputy Subdistrict Head of Pak Chong, Lom Sak District, Phetchabun Province. Prior to the incident, the couple had argued over jealousy. Evidence from their phones showed messages exchanged in the local dialect via the LINE chat app discussing a third party, leading to distrust and ongoing disputes. It is believed the argument escalated, leading Mr. Yongyut to shoot his wife before turning the gun on himself to escape blame.

Authorities sent both bodies to Phetchabun Hospital for autopsy and ballistic examination as per legal procedures. Relatives did not contest the cause of death. After the autopsy, the bodies will be handed over to the family for religious funeral rites.
