On 22 August 2026, reporters reported that Chokchai Police released a statement saying the Metropolitan Police Station had obtained an arrest warrant and arrested “Dam Ban Tai,” the suspect who stabbed the victim with a knife, causing injury.
As reported on social media, a group of men fought and punched each other during a birthday party in the Ladprao-Wanghin area. Later, a brawl occurred where police officers from the Patrol and Special Operations Division (Unit 191) intervened and were stabbed in the abdomen on the night of 19 August 2026.
Chokchai Metropolitan Police promptly conducted an investigation and identified the perpetrator as Mr. Chaluay, also known as “Dam Ban Tai.” They interrogated him, collected evidence, and obtained an arrest warrant for "attempted murder and carrying a weapon (knife) in a city, village, or public place without reasonable cause." The court approved the warrant, and the suspect was charged and handed over to investigators for prosecution.
The knife stabbing stemmed from personal anger between two parties, involving slapping that escalated to punching and intervention by birthday party guests. The injured police officer tried to break up the fight. The suspect, Mr. Chaluay, claimed he stabbed in self-defense because during the chaos he was punched and had glasses thrown at him. Other individuals involved in assault or fighting are being investigated by Chokchai Police, and if found guilty, they will be charged and prosecuted accordingly.
For this case, the investigation officers will present “Dam Ban Tai” to the Ratchada Criminal Court today (22 Aug) before noon to request custody.
