Tom Imprisoned for Assaulting TikTok Star Chai Sabat Cho and Throwing Him into Benjasiri Park Pond, No Bail from Relatives

Thonglor police arrested "Tom" for assaulting TikTok star "Chai Sabat Cho" and throwing him into a pond in Benjasiri Park, resulting in death. He was remanded in custody without relatives posting bail.

On 22 Aug 2026 at the South Bangkok Criminal Court on Charoen Krung Road, the Thonglor police investigator presented Mr. Thawisak, also known as Tom, 38, from Roi Et Province, accused of homicide, for his initial remand hearing.

This follows the case on 21 Aug when the suspect assaulted Mr. Wichai Kanya, owner of the popular TikTok channel “Chai Sabat Cho,” resulting in the victim's death. The suspect then moved Mr. Kanya’s body and disposed of it in a pond within Benjasiri Park, Sukhumvit Road, Khlong Tan Subdistrict, Khlong Toei District, Bangkok, before fleeing. Later, Thonglor police tracked and arrested the suspect, who confessed.Read more: “Thonglor detectives quickly arrested the suspect who killed and dumped the body in Benjasiri Park pond; identified as a homeless person”)

The investigator still needs to question six more witnesses, await autopsy results, criminal record checks of the suspect, and other necessary procedures. Due to these requirements, the investigator requested the suspect’s remand for 12 days, from 22 Aug to 2 Sep.

At the end of the request, the investigator opposed bail, citing the high penalty of the case and concern the suspect might flee if released. The court considered and approved the remand.

However, no relatives of Mr. Thawisak applied for bail today. Therefore, the Department of Corrections transferred him to Bangkok Remand Prison for continued detention pending legal process.
