Update on the police officers' sons gang shooting rival near-fatality: At 09:30 on 25 Aug 2026, Police Colonel Thanaphan Phadungkan ordered investigators from Lat Phrao Police Station to detain Mr. Ong-art, or Ice, 19, and bring him before the Criminal Court on Ratchadaphisek Road for initial detention. Charges include attempted murder, possession of firearms and ammunition, carrying firearms in a public area or village, and discharging firearms in public or residential areas. The investigators opposed bail due to the serious nature of the case, high penalties, and the suspect’s flight risk.
While being transported to the detention vehicle, reporters asked the suspect about his motive, but he remained silent and only turned to look when asked, “Do you have anything to say to your mother?”
Meanwhile, the 14-year-old boy, Thanrit, was taken into custody by investigators and sent to the Juvenile and Family Court yesterday.
Police Colonel Thanaphan Phadungkan, Chief of Lat Phrao Police Station, said today that investigators are expediting evidence collection to request the court issue arrest warrants for three more suspects: Mr. Ter, Mr. Benz, and Mr. Kaew, on charges of attempted murder and three violations under the Firearms Act. Initially, Mr. Ice and Thanrit denied the charges, with Thanrit claiming Ice acted alone. However, investigations revealed Thanrit drove the car to cut off the victim and stopped to let Ice shoot. Afterward, Thanrit drove to drop off four accomplices and returned home, telling his mother they were shot at first. His mother planned to repair the car to destroy evidence, but authorities seized it beforehand.
At first, Ice claimed that bullet marks on the left window were from shots fired by the injured party. Police forensic officers examined bullet trajectories and gunpowder residue, leading Ice to confess that during the third incident, the gun accidentally discharged inside the car, causing the bullet to penetrate the window from inside.
Regarding the gang’s modus operandi, they shifted from using motorcycles to cars, carrying firearms at all times. Marty was the driver who patrolled continuously, attacking rivals immediately upon spotting them.
Reports also found that Ice shares a surname with a cabinet minister. Ice’s mother admitted they are relatives.
