Investigators from Bang Yai Police Station are currently searching for a "hot-headed pickup driver" involved in an argument over another person's parking spot while waiting to park. After being reprimanded, the suspect became upset, drew a 9mm handgun, fired shots injuring a victim, and then fled the scene.
At 08:00 on 25 Aug 2016, Police Lieutenant Jesada Sangman, deputy investigator at Bang Yai Police Station, received reports of a shooting at a gas station along the inbound side of Kanchanaphisek Road heading toward Taling Chan, Bang Muang Subdistrict, Bang Yai District, Nonthaburi. One person was injured. Upon notification, officers promptly responded with Police Colonel Siraphop Anusiri, Chief of Bang Yai Police, along with deputies Police Lieutenant Colonel Rachen Thanatphajanamat, Police Lieutenant Colonel Wiwat Kaewpoon, Police Lieutenant Colonel Surachet Changsan, and Police Lieutenant Colonel Yongyut Laoraddecha. They also coordinated with Bang Yai Hospital ambulance services.
At the scene, a parking lot adjacent to a convenience store within the gas station, the injured party was identified as Anan Junmusi, 34, from Uthai Thani Province. He was shot with a 9mm firearm; the bullet grazed his right side without hitting vital organs. Rescue workers provided assistance and transported him to Bang Yai Hospital for treatment.
Police inspected the scene and found five 9mm bullet casings scattered on the ground, which were collected as evidence.
Investigations at the scene revealed the suspect is a man wearing a long-sleeve green shirt and black pants, driving a black Mitsubishi Titan four-door pickup with construction equipment in the bed. The vehicle's license plate is unknown. After the shooting, the suspect fled the gas station heading toward Taling Chan.
Anan, the injured victim, said he was driving from his home near Sanambin Nam to work near Rama 2. He stopped at the gas station to make a purchase and was waiting for a vehicle to leave a parking spot. When that car pulled out, a black Mitsubishi pickup entered despite Anan signaling to wait. He confronted the driver about the improper parking, leading to an argument. Anan then pushed the other man once. The pickup driver then retrieved a handgun from his vehicle and fired, grazing Anan's right side. Anan had to flee for his life. He insisted that they had no prior conflict.
During the incident, a bronze Toyota with license plate 6 กฌ 4460 Bangkok belonging to a local resident was hit by a stray bullet on the right rear side. Fortunately, the driver was unharmed.
Following the incident, police identified the suspect and are actively pursuing him to bring charges of attempted murder and illegal firearm possession.
