Kanaphat Panomchai, chief of Na Kae Police Station in Nakhon Phanom, assigned the investigative team to monitor a youth target after learning he was part of an important drug trafficking ring called Mang Sing across the Mekong. The gang leader, Mang, from Tha Uthen District, Nakhon Phanom, has evaded a drug-related arrest warrant for over a year and is hiding in Laos. He coordinates networks in Tha Uthen and Na Kae districts to smuggle yaba and ice meth drugs, temporarily storing them in nearby districts before shipping them deeper into the country.
Eventually, Na Kae Police investigative team confirmed clear leads and raided the home of Natthaphon Kaewmuang, also known as Pete, 24, from Phiman Subdistrict, Na Kae District, Nakhon Phanom. They seized 10 packages of ice meth weighing about 10 kilograms. The drugs were wrapped in packaging resembling Chinese tea with Chinese characters. One kilogram typically sells for 300,000 to 500,000 baht, totaling roughly 3 to 5 million baht. The arrest occurred at the suspect’s residence after he brought the ice meth from Tha Uthen District to store it temporarily, awaiting further distribution.
Initial interrogation revealed the suspect admitted being part of Mang’s network, who has been hiding in Laos after fleeing a drug arrest warrant. They know each other and the suspect works as a courier, transporting ice meth from the border at Tha Uthen District via long-tail boat to stash locations before forwarding it. The network operates in stages, paying 5,000 to 10,000 baht per job. Authorities had tracked the case for months without clear evidence until this arrest with seized drugs at the stash house. Investigations are ongoing to capture other members and dismantle the trafficking ring.
