Victims have united to appeal to Dr. Thanakrit, claiming that the owner of a famous durian trading post orchestrated indecent acts and rape, and that his wife intervened to resolve matters with the victims by offering money in exchange for not reporting the crimes.
At 10:00 a.m. on 26 Aug 2026 GMT+7, at the Thanakrit Law Firm on Romklao Road, Lat Krabang district, Bangkok, over ten female victims gathered to seek assistance from Major Dr. Thanakrit Jit-areerat after being deceived by Mr. Roj, the owner of a major durian trading post in Chanthaburi province. They were lured to apply for jobs at a durian stall but upon starting work, were subjected to molestation, sexual harassment, and in some cases, rape. Furthermore, the suspect’s wife intervened to pay off the victims to keep the incidents quiet.
“Nong Ae,” a victim from Chanthaburi, stated that the durian stall was located in Chanthaburi. She worked from 8-10 April 2026 GMT+7 and was deceived with the promise of being taken elsewhere to unload goods but was instead taken to a hotel in the Tha Chang area. Mr. Roj, wearing only a towel, slapped the bed and called her to lie down, offering 1,000 baht in exchange for consent. She resisted and shouted for help but was threatened not to tell anyone, or else she would be 'eliminated,' fired, and unpaid. Ultimately, her daily wage was cut from 500 baht to 250 baht, citing incomplete work. She did not report to the police initially but came forward after learning about the victims’ gathering.
“Nong Bee,” from Phatthalung, said she was assaulted on 17 April 2026 GMT+7 in Chanthaburi as well. She was deceived into visiting the stall but was taken to a nearby hotel, where Mr. Roj, wearing only a towel, performed a sexual act in front of her. She quickly called a friend who helped her escape. Later, after moving to work elsewhere, she reported the case to the Lang Suan police station three times, but the police refused to file the complaint, stating that the incident should be reported at the location where it occurred.
Meanwhile, “Nong C,” aged 19 from Narathiwat, was assaulted most recently on 17 Aug 2026 GMT+7. She applied for a job via the Facebook page “Durian Jobs.” Upon Mr. Roj’s acceptance, she went to the durian stall in Chumphon province at 11:30 p.m. She was forced to work until 7 a.m., then deceived into boarding a vehicle under the pretext of buying things and collecting clothes from a resort. Upon entering the room, she found it empty. The suspect, wearing only a towel, chased her. She cited religious reasons to refuse physical contact, but he provoked her by touching her and exposing himself. Using quick thinking, she sent her location and messages to a colleague at the stall, who came to rescue her.
Nong C added that she possesses key evidence including video and audio clips secretly recorded during the incident. These include footage of the suspect’s indecent behavior and audio of him crying and begging the victims for forgiveness after the case surfaced, saying, “I’m sorry, please don’t take action against me.” There is also an audio clip of the suspect’s wife negotiating a payoff ranging from 30,000 to 35,000 baht to silence the victims or withdraw complaints. After the incident, Nong C went home and filed a daily record report at Rueso police station in Narathiwat on 18 Aug 2026 GMT+7.
Mr. Thanakrit Jit-areerat revealed that this behavior is a serious social threat conducted as a network, with over ten victims connected via a LINE group. The victims include minors under 15, tomboys, and young women from various provinces such as Chanthaburi, Chumphon, and the three southern border provinces. Tomorrow, the case will be coordinated with the Department of Special Investigation (DSI), Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, and Police Major General Jaroonkiat Pankaew, Deputy Commander of the Crime Suppression Division, to extend the investigation and file heavy charges including rape, indecent acts, unlawful detention, human trafficking, and labor law violations to prosecute both the suspect and his wife to the fullest extent.
