The Royal Thai Police announced the results of a 15-day weapons crackdown, arresting 7,261 cases and seizing 7,872 firearms, consisting of 711 registered guns, 7,145 illegal guns, and 16 military weapons.
At 14:00 on 26 August 2026, Police General Thana Chuwong, Deputy Commissioner of the Royal Thai Police, chaired a press conference to report on the operation targeting firearms, military weapons, ammunition, explosives, and firearm replicas, as well as the illegal sale of these items both on the ground and online via social media, conducted between 12 and 26 August 2026.
Police Lieutenant General Nopawat Aryangkul, Assistant Commissioner, and Police Lieutenant General Anucha Romyanan, Assistant Commissioner, along with representatives from various units, joined the briefing at the Jang Yod Suk Room, Immigration Training Center, Royal Thai Police Headquarters.
Following orders from Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul to comprehensively control firearms, close legal loopholes, and crack down on illegal guns, drugs, and influential criminals, the measure responds to escalating violent crime involving firearms across all regions.

- Offenses involving general firearms (On Ground) totaled 6,535 cases, with seizures including 6,963 firearms, 59,632 rounds of ammunition, and 340 explosives.
Among these, 139 cases involved arrests at checkpoints and inspection points, resulting in the seizure of 137 firearms, 628 rounds of ammunition, and 2 explosives.
- Offenses involving firearms online (Online) totaled 726 cases, with seizures including 909 firearms, 2,620 rounds of ammunition, and 40 explosives.
On 18 August 2026, a nationwide sweep arrested 752 suspects with outstanding warrants, corresponding to 752 arrest warrants executed.
Police General Thana stated that the crackdown on crimes involving firearms, ammunition, and explosives led to significant seizures of weapons and other evidence. He expressed gratitude to all police officers for their dedicated efforts to ensure safety nationwide.
