Today (26 Aug 2026) at the Royal Thai Police Headquarters, reporters learned that Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul will chair the 8/2569 Police Commission meeting on 28 August at 14:30, with the agenda to select appointments for police officers from deputy national police commissioner and national police inspector down to provincial police chiefs for the 2026 term.
It was reported that on 23 August, Pol Gen Kittirat Phanphet, National Police Chief and chair of the police appointment vetting board, convened the committee—including deputy commissioners and representatives from the Civil Service Commission—to select suitable officers for appointment from assistant deputy commissioner and deputy inspector down to provincial police chiefs for the 2026 term. The meeting lasted over 19 hours and the approved list will be submitted to the Police Commission for final endorsement.
This year, there are 163 vacancies: 3 deputy national police commissioner positions, 6 assistant deputy commissioner positions, 19 regional police chief positions, 41 deputy regional police chief positions, and 94 provincial police chief positions.
