On 28 Aug at 14:30 at the Police Headquarters, Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, chaired the 8/2569 meeting of the Police Commission (PC). The agenda included selecting appointments for police officers from Deputy Commissioner-General and National Police Inspector General down to Police Commander for the year 2569 BE (2026 CE).
It was reported that on 23 Aug, Police General Kittirat Phanpetch, Commissioner-General and chair of the police appointment screening board, held a committee meeting including Deputy Commissioner-Generals and representatives from the Civil Service Commission to consider appointments from Assistant Commissioner-General and Deputy Inspector General down to Police Commander for 2569. The meeting lasted over 19 hours, with the approved list to be submitted to the Police Commission for final approval. Before the meeting, Anutin reportedly mentioned a sore throat and discomfort, touching his throat area.
Around 17:00, after nearly three hours, Anutin summoned Police General Kittirat for a discussion, likely concerning information about appointments and transfers in certain positions.
Later, at 17:57, Anutin left, delegating Police General Kittirat to continue chairing the meeting. Anutin briefly said that the appointments were settled smoothly and in accordance with the criteria.
It was reported that after the Prime Minister's departure, Police General Kittirat convened the appointment screening board again in Meeting Room 2 to finalize certain Deputy Commander down to Police Commander positions that were still unresolved.
This year, there are 163 vacancies: 3 Deputy Commissioner-General positions, 6 Assistant Commissioner-General positions, 19 Police Commander positions, 41 Deputy Police Commander positions, and 94 Police Commander positions.
For the three vacant Deputy Commissioner-General positions, appointments were made by seniority: Police Lieutenant General Nopawat Arayangkul, Assistant Commissioner-General; Police Lieutenant General Krisada Surachatepong, Assistant Commissioner-General; and Police Lieutenant General Thanapon Srisopa, Deputy Inspector General promoted to Inspector General, with Police General Itthipol Atchariya Pradit, Inspector General, moved to Deputy Commissioner-General.
For the six vacant Assistant Commissioner-General positions, appointments by seniority included Police Lieutenant General Santi Chainiramai, Police Commander Region 4; Police Lieutenant General Nithithorn Jintakanon, Police Commander Special; Police Lieutenant General Achayon Kraithong, Narcotics Suppression Commander; Police Lieutenant General Krisakorn Pleetanyawong, Special Operations Commander as Assistant Commissioner-General; Police Lieutenant General Phisit Tanprasert, Police Commander Region 7; and Police Lieutenant General Kritthaphon Yisakorn, Police Commander Region 5 as Deputy Inspector General, with Police Lieutenant General Trairong Piwpan, Deputy Inspector General, moved to Assistant Commissioner-General.
At the Police Commander level, key positions remained unchanged: Police Lieutenant General Siam Boonsom, Metropolitan Police Commander, class of 46 Police Cadets; Police Lieutenant General Nathsak Chaowanasi, Police Commander, class of 47; Police Lieutenant General Rungroj Thakoorpunyasiri, Border Patrol Police Commander, class of 48; Police Lieutenant General Yoswin Hansamon, Special Branch Commander, class of 45; Police Lieutenant General Piyawat Chalermsri, Police Commander Region 9; Police Lieutenant General Nopphasin Poonsawat, Officer at the Commissioner-General's Office, class of 46. Effective worker Police General Samran Nualma, future Commissioner-General, was transferred to Special Branch Commander.
