The Crime Suppression Division teamed up with Sa Kaeo police to close the case of a bomb-wielding thief who robbed gold inside a mall in Aranyaprathet. After the crime, the suspect hid the gold by the railway and then casually returned to sleep at his residence. During interrogation, he confessed.
At 10:00 a.m. on 30 Aug 2016, Pol. Lt. Gen. Nattakrit Chaowanasai, Commander of the Crime Suppression Division, Pol. Maj. Gen. Phatthanasak Bupphasuwan, Commander of the Crime Suppression Division, Pol. Col. Phongpanot Chukaew, Deputy Commander of the Crime Suppression Division, and Police Lieutenant Colonel Netiwit Thanasitnitikul, Superintendent of Division 2, Crime Suppression Division,
along with Sa Kaeo Provincial Police under the direction of Pol. Maj. Gen. Thawon Dulyawit, Commander of Sa Kaeo Provincial Police; Pol. Col. Chaturaphat Singhathit, Deputy Commander of Sa Kaeo Provincial Police; and Pol. Col. Weepong Kongkaew, Superintendent of Aranyaprathet Police Station,
led the arrest team, including Pol. Lt. Col. Adisorn Intiyas and Police Lieutenant Colonel Temei Nakavisut, Investigators of Division 2, Crime Suppression Division, together with officers from Division 2, Crime Suppression Division, and Sa Kaeo Provincial Police,
jointly conducted the arrest.
1. Mr. Anon Uddhiram, 36, wanted under Sa Kaeo Provincial Court warrant No. 233/2016 dated 30 August 2016, charged with robbery with a weapon and using a vehicle to facilitate the crime or to escape arrest, and with search warrant No. 131/2016 dated 30 August 2016, searched his residence in Village No. 9, Tha Kham Subdistrict, Aranyaprathet District, Sa Kaeo Province.
This search and arrest stemmed from the event on 27 Aug 2016 when a suspect disguised his face and entered Aranyaprathet mall, Sa Kaeo Province, wielding a handgun and throwing a homemade smoke bomb in front of the Yaowarat gold shop. The suspect then grabbed multiple gold necklaces and bracelets totaling 72 baht weight, worth approximately 5 million baht, before fleeing on a motorcycle parked nearby.
After the incident, officers from Division 2, Crime Suppression Division, the Investigation Unit of Sa Kaeo Provincial Police, and Aranyaprathet Police Station worked together investigating, tracing the escape route, and gathering evidence continuously until they identified the suspect as Mr. Anon.
Later that morning, Aranyaprathet Police Station requested and received an arrest warrant from Sa Kaeo Provincial Court for Mr. Anon, along with a search warrant, and proceeded to inspect the residence.
During initial interrogation, Mr. Anon confessed to the crime. He admitted to planning in advance, including acquiring the motorcycle used, repainting it to alter its appearance, and purchasing clothing and wigs to disguise himself before committing the robbery.
The suspect further stated that after the crime, he hid the motorcycle, clothing, and the stolen gold jewelry in a forested area by the railway before returning to hide at his residence.
Police then took the suspect to the location indicated in his confession, where they found about 50 gold necklaces and bracelets hidden there. The items were seized as evidence, and the suspect, along with the evidence, was handed over to investigators at Aranyaprathet Police Station, Sa Kaeo Province, to proceed with legal action.
