Today (30 August 2026) at 09:00, Pol. Gen. Kittirat Phunpet, Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police, assigned Pol. Gen. Samran Nualma, Deputy Commissioner-General (Operations), as commander of the Frontline Police Operations Center, to attend a meeting monitoring the security situation in the southern border provinces and prepare security for the mobile Cabinet meeting scheduled for 31 August to 1 September 2026, chaired by Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul. The meeting also covered preparation, intelligence gathering, and screening of risk individuals for security at the 2026 IMF–World Bank Group Annual Meetings from 12–18 October 2026, hosted by Thailand.

Theerasak Chaiyotha, Commander of Songkhla Provincial Police; Pol. Maj. Gen. Arkom Buathong, Commander of Administration, Provincial Police Region 9; Pol. Maj. Gen. Phahon Ketkaew, Commander of Border Patrol Police Region 4; along with heads of departments under the Frontline Police Operations Center, deputy provincial police commanders of the four southern border provinces, and police station chiefs from the three southern border provinces and four districts of Songkhla. The meeting was held in the War Room on the 2nd floor of the Frontline Police Operations Center building and via teleconference.
Pol. Gen. Samran said Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and Pol. Gen. Kittirat Phunpet, Commissioner-General, are concerned about the situation in the southern border provinces and have assigned him to closely supervise the area. They understand and care deeply for all officers operating under tense and risky conditions. He emphasized the following directives.
1. Commanders of Provincial Police and commanders of Yala, Pattani, and Narathiwat Provincial Police, along with the Southern Border Investigation Bureau, must expedite investigations and evidence collection to prosecute offenders swiftly.
2. Prepare to prevent threats by using intelligence related to possible security risks against the mobile Cabinet meeting and the IMF–World Bank Annual Meetings. This includes integrating information from the Royal Thai Police and other intelligence agencies such as military intelligence, the National Intelligence Agency, government sources, and the public, to comprehensively plan all threat prevention measures.
3. Tactical preparedness must focus on preventing losses to personnel and property, including operational staff, government offices, and economic sites.
4. Field units must fully integrate proactive intelligence gathering to ensure effective operational implementation.
Afterwards, Pol. Gen. Samran and his team inspected seven police stations and operational bases: Lam Mai Police Station in Mueang Yala District, and in Pattani Province: Na Pradu Police Station, Pattani Task Force Company 13 in Khok Pho District, Khok Pho Police Station, Tuyong Police Station in Nong Chik District, Pattani Special Operations Task Force Company 11 in Mueang Pattani District, and Pattani Task Force Police Company 9213 in Mueang Pattani District. He delivered morale-boosting supplies and gave operational guidance to encourage caution and strengthen officers' resolve. He reminded police officers that the public entrusts them with maintaining peace and security, urging them to remain mindful and dedicated to their duties to ensure the well-being of the people.
