The man who stabbed the Ban Tio Subdistrict Administrative Organization (SAO) head in Phetchabun province died; his wife was seriously injured. The suspect surrendered, claiming provocation caused loss of temper. Police quickly detained him for a crime scene reenactment, fearing public retaliation due to the incident.
After the Lom Sak Police Station in Phetchabun received a report, the suspect stabbed Mr. Laksap Khamso, 61, the Ban Tio SAO head in Lom Sak district, at his home. He was stabbed in the neck, chest, abdomen, and epigastric region, suffering critical injuries before dying at the hospital.The incident occurred at 21:40 on the night of 31 August 2026.
Mrs. Somjit, 60, the SAO head’s wife, witnessed the event and was also seriously wounded by the attacker.
Initially, it is known that Mr. Laksap had held the SAO head position for only seven months. He lived with his wife in this house, which also served as a training site for the "Khok Nong Na Model," resulting in frequent visitors.
Before the incident, the suspect, a stocky man, arrived and sat talking with the victim from around 3 p.m. in the guest area near the carport. Later that evening, an argument erupted. The suspect drew a knife and repeatedly stabbed Mr. Laksap. Hearing her husband’s cries for help, Mrs. Somjit ran to assist but was also stabbed by the attacker, who intended to silence her. She managed to flee inside, lock the door, and call police. The suspect then dragged Mr. Laksap about 30 meters from the scene, stabbed him again, and fled.
Our news team spoke with Miss Opor, the victim’s niece, who said they still do not know the identity of the suspect since the victim had no known conflicts. Mrs. Somjit’s condition has now stabilized and is no longer critical.
Recently, police arrested Mr. Phiphop Meewatthana, also known as Diao, the suspect. He was taken for a crime scene reenactment early on 1 September 2026 due to concerns about public retaliation. Later that morning, he was brought in for questioning. Police Lieutenant Colonel Wutichai Sritalaharat, deputy investigation chief of Lom Sak Police Station, said after interrogation that the suspect works at the municipality and claimed he did not intend to kill, describing the stabbing as a spontaneous incident.
Before the attack, the suspect had discussed the "Khok Nong Na Model" project with the victim but was provoked by personal remarks, causing him to lose his temper. He kicked the victim and then grabbed a knife from the victim’s house to stab him. When the victim’s wife ran out to help, he stabbed her too. After the attack, he drove home and later surrendered last night. He is charged with intentional homicide and attempted murder, and legal proceedings will continue.
