A 28-year-old former rescue volunteer, driven by intense jealousy, chased and rear-ended the motorcycle carrying his ex-girlfriend and her new partner, killing both instantly while he suffered severe injuries.
At 00:50 on 3 Sep 2026, Police Lieutenant Colonel Peeraphat Samritdeengam, investigative officer at Prachachuen Police Station, received a report of a pickup truck crashing into a motorcycle causing multiple fatalities at the U-turn in front of the Military Service Department on Ratchadaphisek Road, Bang Sue subdistrict, Bang Sue district, Bangkok. He promptly went to the scene with a doctor from Phra Mongkutklao Hospital and volunteer staff from Poh Teck Tung Foundation.
At the scene, a white pickup truck without license plates was found with a foundation’s sticker on the side. The front was badly damaged from a strong collision. Mr. Songpol, 28, the former rescue volunteer driver, was found severely injured.
Nearby, a black Honda PCX motorcycle registered in Bangkok was crushed and mangled from the impact. Two bodies were found around it: the rider, Mr. Jetapon, 45, who had severe wounds all over his body, and the passenger, Miss Narissa, 24, whose legs were violently severed. Both died immediately at the scene.
During evidence collection, officers lifted the motorcycle seat and found suspicious items hidden underneath: one plastic bag containing methamphetamine pills and two zip-lock bags containing crystal meth. These were recorded and seized as evidence.
Initial inquiries with relatives revealed that the woman had decided to end her one-year relationship with Mr. Songpol over two months ago due to his repeated violent behavior. Despite her having filed a police report at Prachachuen Police Station documenting abuse, the former rescue volunteer continued to harass and threaten her with hostile messages.
Before the incident, Mr. Jetapon, the woman's new partner, came to pick up Miss Narissa near Wat Liap Rat Bamrung. Mr. Songpol was already parked nearby observing. Upon seeing his ex-girlfriend riding pillion with the new partner, Mr. Songpol, driven by rage, started his pickup truck and chased the motorcycle closely, using siren lights from the Wat Liap Rat Bamrung area onto Ratchadaphisek Road. At the U-turn in front of the Military Service Department, he accelerated and violently rammed the motorcycle from behind, tragically causing both to die on the spot.
Prachachuen Police investigators assigned foundation personnel to transport the two deceased for detailed autopsies at Phra Mongkutklao Hospital and coordinated with relatives for funeral arrangements. Meanwhile, the suspect, Mr. Songpol, was taken to Kasemrad Prachachuen Hospital for treatment of severe injuries, where he remains in custody for legal prosecution.
