Actress Fon Sananthachat reported to cyber police after a mysterious person contacted her via LINE, claiming interest from a senior police officer, then edited images showing her alongside the National Police Chief. She confirmed she does not personally know him and fears this may cause misunderstandings.
At 14:30 on 4 Sep 2026 at the Cyber Crime Investigation Division 1 (CCD1) headquarters in Chaeng Watthana Government Complex, Lak Si district, Bangkok, Ms. Sananthachat Thanaphatpisan, or Fon, 32, a well-known actress, accompanied by lawyer Thanawat Limsangka, submitted evidence and filed a complaint with Pol. Maj. Gen. Siriwat Deepho, commander of CCD1. The case involved a mysterious woman claiming to work for the National Police Chief who contacted Fon via her personal LINE, alleging interest from a senior official.
Ms. Sananthachat revealed that the situation began when an unknown person using the alias “Mint,” who obtained her personal contact from someone else, messaged her through the LINE app. This person claimed a senior official was interested and that Fon worked with the National Police Chief. She firmly stated she has never met or had any connection with the Police Chief. Upon learning this, she replied that she did not know the person and was not interested in such work due to her heavy current workload. Concerned that scammers might misuse her information to deceive others, she decided to capture the messages and posted them on her personal Facebook page to warn the public about the proximity and variety of cybercrime threats.
Ms. Sananthachat added that such actions might mislead people unaware of the facts into thinking she accepted inappropriate work, potentially damaging her image and the reputation she has built in the entertainment industry for over ten years. She confirmed she never responded further to the person and that only journalists contacted her through her personal manager to verify the facts. Moreover, after the incident, she discovered her images had been edited to show her alongside the National Police Chief, causing harm to both parties.
Pol. Maj. Gen. Siriwat Deepho, commander of CCD1, expressed gratitude to the actress and her lawyer for taking the time to provide crucial evidence to the cyber police today. He said investigators would quickly trace the LINE account owner involved and warned the public that scammers often impersonate senior government officials or high-ranking civil servants to gain trust, leading to various fraud schemes similar to past cases where scammers impersonated provincial governors to borrow money.
At this stage, the Royal Thai Police have not issued any special orders since the incident is recent and the true intent of the perpetrator remains under investigation. Authorities will expedite efforts to identify and prosecute the offender according to the law.
