A construction contractor's son became furious and attacked his father's friend with a sword after hearing that his father had fallen and suffered a head injury, then fled. Police are urgently pursuing the suspect.,
At 21:30 on 5 Sep 2026, Lieutenant Chanunphat Klomcham, Deputy Investigation Officer at Phra Samut Chedi Police Station, Samut Prakan Province, received a report from Phra Samut Chedi Swatayanon Hospital that a man had suffered a severe facial knife wound and was being treated at the hospital.
They proceeded to investigate together with Police Lieutenant Colonel Thakorn Khian Sa-at, Patrol Supervisor; Police Lieutenant Colonel Weeraphan Boonnak, Investigation Supervisor; patrol officers; and detective officers.
In the emergency room, doctors were treating Mr. Anurak, 51, who had a 12 cm deep slash wound on his left cheekbone causing fractured bone and hanging flesh. Initial wound care was administered before transferring him to Bangkok 3 Hospital for further treatment.
They also found another injured party, the victim's opponent, Mr. Phanom, 61, with a 3 cm head wound, who was sitting and giving a statement to police.
Mr. Natthapong, 31, a witness, said he went out to buy food and heard people arguing and shouting. After they separated, he went inside to eat. About 30 minutes later, he heard screaming. When he ran out, he saw a pickup truck driving away and found the injured man sitting with a severe wound. They had been drinking together in a group of six to seven people. He tried to mediate and everyone then went inside. Shortly after, he heard a loud noise and saw panic. The injured man was the only male with a wound. They all knew each other locally and had never witnessed such a frightening event before.
Mr. Phanom, 61, the perpetrator's father, said he was not physically assaulted directly but had a head injury with bleeding and swelling after slipping while trying to retreat. He had been drinking with the injured man and his wife.
Then they separated to drink with another group until the victim approached aggressively and chased him for unknown reasons. He fell and bled. When he returned home, his son saw the injury and mistakenly thought he had been attacked, which angered him. He told his son that no one had hurt him and that he fell on his own, but the son was the one who would cause harm. He stepped back and told his son not to get involved or seek revenge.
Ms. Rungreung, 33, the injured man's wife, said she, her partner, and the perpetrator's father were drinking together when suddenly the perpetrator's father argued and threw a glass bottle on the ground. Her partner intervened to stop him and tried to take him away, but there was a struggle causing the perpetrator's father to fall and hit his head. Afterwards, they separated and the perpetrator's father went home.
Shortly after, she and her partner were still at the restaurant when the perpetrator, later identified as Mr. Nopadon or Bank, 31, a construction contractor and son of Mr. Phanom, arrived in a white covered Toyota pickup truck carrying a sword. He attacked her partner in the face with the sword, causing injuries. Locals took her partner to the hospital while the perpetrator fled in the truck.
Police inspected the scene inside a grocery and food shop named "Jae Muay" located at the mouth of Soi Trok Tua Ngok on Suksawat-Pom Prachul Road, Moo 1, Laem Fa Pha Subdistrict, Phra Samut Chedi District, Samut Prakan Province.
Inside the shop, blood was found on dining tables, chairs, and the floor. Three pairs of shoes were also found outside. CCTV footage showed that earlier in the evening, Mr. Anurak, Ms. Rungreung (the injured man's wife), Mr. Phanom (the injured party with the head wound), and Mr. Prinya were drinking beer together with other familiar customers. Except for Mr. Prinya, the other three had an argument.
Mr. Phanom stood up and slammed the table once. When Ms. Rungreung tried to walk toward the front, Mr. Phanom threw a glass at her which shattered but did not hit her. Mr. Anurak intervened, pulling Mr. Phanom by the arm to escort him out to avoid escalation. However, Mr. Phanom, intoxicated, refused to leave and argued with Ms. Rungreung. A scuffle ensued between Mr. Anurak and Mr. Phanom, resulting in Mr. Phanom falling backward and hitting his head, causing the wound. Everyone rushed in to help, thinking a fight had broken out, and separated them.
Mr. Anurak then resumed drinking at the shop while Mr. Phanom went home. About 40 minutes later, the perpetrator, Mr. Nopadon or Bank, 31, a construction contractor and Mr. Phanom's son, arrived in a white Toyota covered pickup truck. Bank, seated beside the driver, opened the door carrying a sword. Seeing Mr. Anurak leaning on the table, he slashed his face with the sword, causing severe wounds. Friends and the wife rushed to stop the bleeding and called emergency services. Bank quickly got back into the truck and fled.
Police collected evidence from the scene and made an initial report, then coordinated with the investigation unit to urgently track down Bank, the sword wielder, for legal action. The motive is under investigation.
