A land dispute escalated when two longtime rivals engaged in a physical fight; one was stabbed through the chest and back and died, while another suffered severe injuries with intestines protruding. Police have detained the suspect and will continue legal proceedings.
At 08:15 on 6 Sep 2026 GMT+7, Police Lieutenant Junior Grade Jutakan Jutanon, Deputy Inspector (Investigation) of Lang Suan Police Station, received a report of an assault resulting in two people severely injured. The incident occurred at a residence in Village No. 16, Ban Khuan Subdistrict, Lang Suan District, Chumphon Province. She informed Pol. Col. Apichart Dokmaithong, Chief of Lang Suan Police Station, who dispatched local patrol officers, investigators, and rescue personnel from the Buddhaprateep Lang Suan Association to the scene.
Upon arrival, they found that relatives had already taken the two injured individuals to the hospital. The victims were identified as Mr. Kowit Topunpin, 55, stabbed through the chest and back, taken to Lang Suan Hospital, and Mr. Anisorn Rittichai, 40, the rival, stabbed in the abdomen with protruding intestines and in critical condition, taken to Pak Nam Lang Suan Hospital.
Police then proceeded to Lang Suan Hospital, where they learned that Mr. Kowit had sustained severe injuries and later died. His family had taken his body home for religious funeral rites. Officers continued the investigation there, finding a somber atmosphere as relatives prepared the venue for the funeral.
Meanwhile, Mr. Anisorn, the rival who was seriously injured, was urgently transferred by doctors for further treatment at Chumphon Khet Udomsak Hospital.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the two parties had a longstanding land dispute. On the day of the incident, they encountered each other and a violent altercation broke out, leading to a stabbing with knives that caused death and severe injury. Police have detained Mr. Anisorn for legal proceedings and are gathering evidence to file charges.
