In Krabi, two gunmen have surrendered after shooting an 18-year-old man dead inside his car. They turned themselves in following arrest warrants. They claimed the victim tried to ram their vehicle first. They said they threw the guns into the water but later retracted that statement. Police are conducting strict interrogation.
On 7 Sep 2026, reporters reported that the suspects had lured Mr. Sarayut, or Chiu Nuannim, aged 18, by phone to meet on Pracha Uthit Road in Krabi Yai subdistrict, Muang Krabi district, on the evening of 4 Sep. They then fired multiple shots at him inside his car, killing him. A friend who was with him fled by car to seek help from police at the Krabi Yai checkpoint but the victim could not be saved.
Later, police gathered evidence and obtained arrest warrants from the Krabi Provincial Court for two suspects: Mr. Ariyat, 18, and Mr. Wattichak, 20. Both had fled and were previously reported as wanted.
The latest update at 10:00 a.m. today: both suspects, Ariyat and Wattichak, accompanied by lawyers, came to Muang Krabi Police Station. Pol. Lt. Col. Chawanin Wittayajesadathanaphat, deputy head of the investigation division, took them into custody, informed them of charges of premeditated murder, and began interrogation.
Initially, both confessed to shooting the victim, claiming it was because he attempted to ram their car. However, police remain doubtful of their statements. They later said that after the incident, they fled via route through Moo 8, Thap Prik subdistrict, Muang Krabi district, where near Khlong Yai they slowed down and discarded two firearms into the canal. Police coordinated with the Krabi Pitak Pracha Foundation’s diving team to search the canal but found nothing. Subsequently, the suspects retracted their claim and said they did not discard the guns. Police then took them for further interrogation at the Krabi Provincial Police Investigation Division.
