The drugs were being transported from northern to central Thailand. Officers used an X-ray scanner to inspect suspicious items and found about 10 million methamphetamine pills hidden among woven bamboo goods (bamboo baskets). Pol. Lt. Col. Thattep Chotidechochai, Chief of Huai Rai Police Station's Criminal Investigation Division, revealed that on 7 Sep 2026 GMT+7 at about 13:00, the drug search task force at Huai Rai Police Station conducted intensified inspections per directives from superiors and the National Police Commander. They found a yellow truck, license plate 70-7902 from Ratchaburi, fully loaded with bamboo baskets. The driver, 38-year-old Thitinan Nikrathok, was called for inspection and questioned.
The driver reported receiving the goods from Phu Kam Yao District, Phayao Province, to be delivered to Sam Chuk District, Suphanburi Province. Suspicious activity during the search prompted officers to examine the cargo closely, revealing hidden sacks inside. An X-ray scan detected methamphetamine concealed in 40 blue sacks, totaling about 10 million pills. The drugs were disguised among woven bamboo baskets.
The suspect initially admitted he was hired through a group of dealers communicating via a Line chat, for a payment of 8,000 baht. Authorities are expanding investigations to trace the trafficking route and identify individuals possibly involved in ordering, supporting, or conspiring in this drug smuggling case to pursue legal action.
